arriving with NIck at about 9am wind was from the NE and cold with it! a good day to try out the 12 mtr frenzy in the estuary.mad eel 145 my favourite of the three was the weapon of choice for me.note that i dont use the ozone bar prefering my modified stage 2 (added the cobra cleat, much better!)bar.frenzy went well although could have done with more consistant wind but no suprise there as the the clouds were moving SW and the wind blowing NE down the estuary!after the sun was covered by the approaching clouds off the sea the wind became very gusty and so decided that coution being the best part of valour (frenzys do not float) came in and blew up one of my favourite little beasts, the 2002 10mtr airblast;black with a white trailing edge, not even Campbell could sex this thing up any more!
NIck was out on his 11mtr wipika hydroand yes another mad eel145, another great kite and together we blasted up and down the water eventually being joined by Graham on his 16mtr flat Cabrinha Co2m and oh look! a mad eel 155 no less.
as the cloud cover increased so did the turbulence and large holes started to appear in the air, time to get off the water and get the kites down( this was after i got hoiked up out of the water and gracefully planted on the sand ;so what do you do? well you make use of the wind and power the kite up drag on your buttock back across to the water and away up on your board in one flowing motion.
Time for breackfast;the wind slowley decreasing and noting on the hills that smoke was now turning around and coming from the south we made the decision to pack up and head over the dunes to the beach ready for the SWs to kick in,you of little faith!( you know who you are).by the time we had got to the beach and inflated the kites, yep here comes the SWs,slowley at first but getting better and better.by this time Col had arrived with two students;COl flying his usuall array of storm 2s ad YET ANOTHER MAD EEL 145.
the wind was a little up and down all the rest of the day and i swapped betwwen the 10 mtr airblast and pinching COls 20 flat storm 2 (thanks)
a great day had by all ,even topped up on the tan coming off the water at about 5pm ,oh how i ache today!!!!
